Instructional Designer

Position Overview:

This is a vacancy for a hybrid or on-site role at our HQ in Tutzing (South of Munich). We encourage applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of gender identity.

We are looking for an Instructional Designer (m/f/d) to join our Customer Education Team at Lobster. In this role, you will help customers and partners successfully adopt and use the Lobster Data Platform through high-quality self-service learning experiences.
You will design, create, and maintain structured learning modules supported by written documentation and video-based training. Working at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Customer Enablement, you will translate real-world product usage into scalable educational content that reaches thousands of users across our global customer base.
This is a role for someone who combines technical curiosity with a genuine talent for clear communication. Someone who can take a complex integration scenario and turn it into a learning experience that actually sticks.

You’ll get to take ownership of:

• Designing, planning, and creating structured self-service learning modules across all product areas
• Developing written training materials and high-quality video content that support different learning styles and levels of technical expertise
• Collaborating with Product Management, Engineering, and Consulting to translate practical knowledge and best practices into effective learning content
• Ensuring training reflects real-world use cases, data flows, and integration scenarios
• Continuously improving materials based on product updates, customer and partner feedback, and usage insights
• Delivering instructor-led training on-site and remotely for customers and partners
• Contributing to the overall learning strategy and helping ensure consistency, clarity, and scalability across all content in the Lobster Digital Academy

We’d love to meet someone with:

• 3+ years of experience creating technical learning content, documentation, or training materials for complex software products
• Strong understanding of interface management, data flows, and data migration (middleware) concepts
• Practical knowledge of integration architectures, APIs, message-based systems, and data transformation
• The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, structured, customer-friendly content
• Experience planning and executing end-to-end training initiatives
• Comfort working with both written and video-based learning formats
• Fluency in German and English (written and spoken)

Nice to Have:

• Experience with a Digital Academy or LMS platform (e.g. Document360, Skilljar, or similar)
• Background in B2B SaaS, middleware, or ERP/EDI environments
• Familiarity with instructional design frameworks (e.g. ADDIE, SAM)
