Your role and responsibilities

In this role you will be contributing to the development of ABB's next generation DCS (Distributed Control System) with focus on our controllers.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid (at least 60% in office)

We are looking for a Senior Test Lead and Test Architect, who will design and own the overall verification & validation strategy for ABB’s next generation controllers.

• You will work closely with our software, hardware, architecture, safety, cybersecurity and product management teams to ensure an efficient end-to-end test approach for our controllers.
• You will be responsible for creating an efficient, waste-free test approach that delivers fast quality feedback to the development team.
• You will define test levels, coverage strategies, test environments, and integration points from early prototype phases through product integration to requirement and safety validation.
• Your focus will be on test automation, early defect detection, and eliminating redundant testing activities while ensuring full compliance with relevant industrial standards, such as IEC 61508.

Qualifications for the role

• General experience: 8+ years of experience in embedded systems testing/verification, including unit, integration and product level testing. Experience with Agile/DevOps practices in embedded/safety-critical development. Experience with TÜV or similar certification bodies and audit processes.
• Test Strategy and Architecture: Demonstrated ability to define and drive a test strategy/architecture across multiple teams. Experience with creating test frameworks, defining test levels, and establishing test processes from scratch or significantly improving existing ones.
• Embedded Systems Testing: Strong hands-on experience with real-time embedded systems testing. Understanding of hardware/software integration challenges, timing constraints, and deterministic behavior verification. Experience with risk-based testing methodologies. Cybersecurity testing knowledge for industrial systems.
• Test Automation: Proven experience with test automation. Ability to design automation architecture. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices.
• Stakeholder Management: Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work with cross-functional and global teams.
• Education: Master's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Language skills: Full professional proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
